Frequently Asked Questions ❓
Are Simplyseedz products ok for vegans?
Yes, all our products are 100% vegan friendly.
Is Simplyseedz porridge gluten free?
Oats naturally do not contain gluten which is found in wheat, barley etc.
We have selected British jumbo oats (not gluten free) for all our recipes. Our BRC accredited site does handle cereals with gluten and follows stringent processes to minimise any risk of cross contamination.
We have many customers who are gluten intolerant that enjoy our porridge.
If coeliac, allergic to oats or have any concerns, please check with your GP for specific advice.
Is Simplyseedz Porridge easy to make?
Absolutely yes!
All our porridge recipes can be made quickly by adding hot water or milk, stirring & leaving for a few minutes for the fruit and oats to thicken.
You can also make in a microwave (add cold liquid) and put on high for a couple of minutes, stir and pop back in for another minute.
What is the right size portion of porridge to eat?
Here we tend to have around 50g of our porridge mix. And a really easy way to measure is to place into a cup or mug, (we use the same size mug each time so we know we're having the right quantity). We recommend say 1 cup of oats to 1.5 to 2 x cups of liquid.
Aren't all porridge pots the same, what makes Simplyseedz porridge pots different?
We use whole ingredients, 100% natural, no nasty additives or anything you can't pronounce. Our porridge pots do not contain any type of milk powder, making them suitable for all, vegan, lactose intolerant etc.
When you open a Simplyseedz porridge pot, you will see large British jumbo oats, fruit and seeds.
Why are there seeds in your recipes?
As our brand name suggests, we do include seeds in all our recipes. We have selected pumpkin and sunflower seeds because of their high nutritional content to add extra goodness and texture.
When is the best time to eat Simplyseedz porridge?
Here at SSHQ, like to start our day with a bowl of porridge, typically around 8am. This will see us through until lunchtime without the need to reach for any snacks. Personally, i recommend that whatever time your day starts, have a portion to fuel you until your next mealtime.
I had porridge when I was a child and it was horrible!
Yes I can concur with that! Actually we had Readybrek as kids and I remember it being grey, claggy and only palatable with loads of sugar - hideous, what was my mother thinking?? That's why I just had to create porridge that had texture, flavour and nutrition! I'm 62yrs old, haven't had a cold or sniffle or any illness in over 10years since I started eating my own porridge and long may that continue!
Can babies or small children eat Simplyseedz porridge?
The ideal age is over 2yrs. Any younger, we recommend that you whizz in a food processor to make the mix finer.
Is your packaging recyclable?
All our packaging is fully recyclable, that includes the inner bag in our large carton packs too.
Where possible, we reuse outer packing cases when we send out online customer orders to help the planet a little more. Any packaging fillers (shredded paper etc) are recyclable too.
Why do you charge delivery?
We realise that no-one wants to pay delivery, including us. But unfortunately, we are charged by carriers and because the average order is over 2kg's in weight (think 4 x 500g cartons with their packaging).
We try to keep our charges as competitive as possible with orders under 2kg £3.99 (Royal Mail 48) and for orders over 2kg £5.99 (DPD next day).
We offer free delivery on orders over £35 and some of our products we have managed to include delivery.
