Here's a fantastic easy recipe to make using our porridge oats. This recipe will make 4-6 portions.
Strawberry & Rhubarb Crunchy Oaty Crumble using our Simply Plain Porridge Oats with Seeds.
This is a simple recipe to make a crunchy crumble oat topping. I can assure you that once you make crumble like this, you will always use oats for crumble.
And although I've made this crumble with fresh strawberries and rhubarb, this crunchy crumble topping can be used on top of any fruit of choice.
Our recipe to make a crumble topping is as follows:
You will need:
- 120g of Simplyseedz Plain Oats with Seeds
- 60g of butter or margarine
- 30g of demerara sugar
Put all the ingredients in a large bowl or food mixer and mix all together until all fully combined and is sticky, forming clumps of mix.
Next, put your fruit of choice (approx 350g) into an overnproof dish.
Next spread the mix on top of your fruit of choice and bake in the oven at 180c for approximately 35minutes until light brown and the fruit is cooked.
Serve warm with lashings of custard, cream or Greek yoghurt.
Another recipe tip: This crumble mix can also form the basis of oat bars by adding some chopped nuts and extra fruit and baking in the oven.
